PA Gaming Board To Make Category 3 Public Files Available For Review

Schedule for Public Review of Category 2 Files Announced

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that it will make available for review public files for Category 3 operator license applicants beginning on Thursday, October 19, 2006.

The files will be available at the Board’s Harrisburg offices on the 5th floor of the Verizon Tower in Strawberry Square on Walnut Street during normal PGCB business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through Tuesday, October 24th.

In addition, the Board announced a schedule for the availability of public files for Category 2 applicants. These documents will be made available for the first time in the public review room at the Board’s Harrisburg offices:

    • Philadelphia applicants - Wednesday, October 25th through Monday, October 30th
    • Pittsburgh applicants – Wednesday, November 1st through Monday, November 6th
    • At-Large applicants – Wednesday, November 15th through Monday, November 20th

After each of these designated periods, the public is still invited to review the Category 2 and 3 documents, but the Board asks that anyone interested in doing so please call ahead to the Office of Communications at 717-346-8321 so arrangements can be made to provide the appropriate files and adequate viewing space.

People who wish to obtain copies of particular pages of these documents can place orders through the Gaming Control Board at the time of their visit. In order to obtain copies as quickly as possible, the Board suggests that people bring a check that can be completed for the appropriate fees and submitted during the public inspection visit.

On September 27, 2006, the Gaming Control Board awarded the first operator licenses for Category 1 horse race tracks. During October, November and December, the Board is scheduled to conduct 15 hearings designed to gauge the suitability for stand-alone facilities (Category 2) and those at existing resorts (Category 3), and plans to vote on awarding permanent licenses in all three categories before the end of the year.
