2011-2012 Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Annual Report Released

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has released its 2011-2012 Annual Report. The 28-page document is available in electronic format and can be downloaded by visiting the Gaming Control Board’s web site, www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, and choosing the Annual Report link in the What’s New section on the home page.

The Annual Report highlights the continued growth of licensed gaming in Pennsylvania in 2011 through the first half of 2012. The annual publication also includes video messages from both Chairman William H. Ryan, Jr. and Executive Director Kevin O’Toole, along with gaming revenue statistical charts on each of the eleven casinos in operation during the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year, and reports from all PGCB Bureaus.

The PGCB 2011-2012 Annual Report is one of several informative documents that are released by the agency to not only fulfill obligations under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, but also to provide a high level of transparency to the public regarding the work of the Commonwealth agency that regulates casino gaming. This commitment to assure that the public has access to Board work and gaming information, primarily via its web site, includes:

  • the capability to view public meetings live or view archived videos of past meetings;
  • gain access to the future and past meeting schedules and view all meeting agendas and transcripts;
  • obtain weekly, monthly and fiscal year reports on all gaming revenue produced since 2006 along with taxes generated;
  • information and documents to file a Right-to-Know request or to see previous Right-to-Know requests made by the public; and,
  • request that someone from the PGCB speak to your organization and answer questions about all aspects of legalized casino gaming in the Commonwealth.

Since November 2006 when the first legalized casino opened, the Pennsylvania gaming industry has returned more than $7 billion to the Commonwealth from a combination of a tax on slot machine and table games play, and from one-time licensing fees, while creating over 16,000 jobs. Eleven casinos are currently in operation in the Commonwealth.
