HARRISBURG, PA: With an additional $55.8 million in revenue in December from table games play at the Commonwealth’s 10 casinos, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that the total combined gaming revenue from slot machines and table games generated in 2011 topped $3 billion for the first time.

The Board reported today that gross revenue for 2011 was $3,024,772,959 compared to 2010 totals of $2,486,408,061, a year over year increase of 21.65%.

Pennsylvania taxes gross table game revenue at 16% and gross slot machine revenue at approximately 55%.

“Since one of the intents of the Gaming Act was to provide a significant source of new revenue, it is certainly gratifying to see this continued increase,” said Board Chairman William H. Ryan, Jr. “The ability of Pennsylvania casinos to offer top-scale amenities and high quality service is certainly a driving factor in the patronage of these entertainment facilities.”

The Board posted on its web site (www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov) today the December revenue report from the play of table games. The report shows tax revenue of more than $9 million with an average of 949 tables in operation on a daily basis during December, and gross revenue from play of all table games of $55,823,485. That amount was 26.6% higher than December 2010’s revenue of $44,080,346 when an average of 783 tables were in operation on a daily basis. Table game play generated $9,015,350 of tax revenue in December.

About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board:
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was established in 2004 with the passage of Act 71, also known as the Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. Pennsylvania’s first new state agency in nearly 40 years, the Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of the state’s casino industry. The ten casinos in operation all offer both slot machine and table game gambling, employ over 15,000 people, and collectively have generated $5.8 billion in tax and license fee revenue since the first casino opened in November 2006. A portion of that money is enabling property tax reduction for all Pennsylvania homeowners, providing needed funding to the Commonwealth’s horse racing industry, funding grants for fire companies and water/sewer projects, and establishing a new stream of tax revenue to local governments for community projects. A wealth of information about the Gaming Control Board and Pennsylvania’s gaming industry can be found at www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov. At this website, visitors can view videos of Board meetings and on the operation of the PGCB, obtain information on identifying a gambling problem and gaining assistance, look up future meeting schedules and past meeting transcripts, access an interactive map of casino locations, request a speaker for their group, along with much more information.
