Interested In Casino Industry Jobs In PA? Visit the PGCB Web Site
HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board began providing an on-line reference service on its web site to assist individuals in finding out more about employment opportunities at licensed facilities in the Commonwealth.
Executive Director Anne Neeb says that while the Board cannot recommend individuals for employment at slots facilities, it can and should do everything possible to help persons seek jobs in this new industry.
“In addition to the direct tax benefits that the new gaming industry will produce in Pennsylvania, many other benefits including living wage jobs are being provided by casino operators,” Neeb says. “I encourage persons who are interested in gaming industry jobs to check our web site for assistance.”
Thus far, the Gaming Control Board has posted links for the six slot casinos licensed at horse race tracks. These facilities are expected to create a combined 6,000 direct jobs. Similarly, the five stand alone casinos approved for licensing are expected to create an additional 6,000 direct jobs.
Three of these facilities, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs near Wilkes-Barre, Philadelphia Park Casino in Bensalem and Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack in Chester are open. A fourth facility, Presque Isle Downs in Erie, is expected to open by March 1st. The remaining two licensed track casinos are The Meadows in Washington County slated for opening this spring and Hollywood Casino at Penn National in Grantville in early 2008.
The Gaming Control Board web site can be accessed at www.pgcb.state.pa.us. To obtain employment information for individual slot operators, choose the Employment link on the home page, click on any of the listed casino web sites.
