2008 PGCB Annual Report Available On Web Site

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has released its 2008 Annual Report. The 26-page document is available in electronic format and can be downloaded by visiting the Gaming Control Board’s web site www.pgcb.state.pa.us, and choosing the special Annual Report link on the home page.

The Annual Report highlights the continued growth of licensed slot machine gaming in Pennsylvania during 2008 and includes accomplishments of all PGCB Bureaus including statistics on licensing and gaming revenues along with special reports on diversity and, problem gambling.

Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Racehorse Development and Gaming Act, the Board has jurisdiction over every aspect of the authorization, operation and regulation of slot machine gaming in the Commonwealth. Seven slot machine facilities are operating with two of those scheduled for major expansion into new facilities in 2009. In addition, two brand new casinos are also scheduled to open this year.

Since November 2006 when the first legalized casino opened through the end of 2008, the Pennsylvania slots gaming industry has contributed $2 billion in tax revenues to the Commonwealth through both gaming and license fees.
