PA Gaming Control Board Launches Video `faqs` To Help the Public Better Understand Agency Oversight And the Slots Industry

HARRISBURG: In its continuing efforts to help the citizens of Pennsylvania better understand the growing slots casino market and the tremendous oversight effort being undertaken, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has launched videos of important Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on its web site, www.pgcb.state.pa.us.

The 19 videos are all less than two minutes in length, thereby providing complete, yet easy-to-understand answers to questions that are most frequently asked of the PGCB.  The videos are designed to play on Windows Media Player.

The questions fall under a myriad of topics including:

•    operation and testing of slot machines;
•    identifying a problem gambler and avenues to seek help;
•    safety in casinos through staffing and surveillance;
•    oversight and monitoring of casinos;
•    how wagers and owed taxes are tracked; and
•    efforts to assure that the industry is complying with diversity goals outlined in the Gaming Act.

“This is another in a series of efforts undertaken by the Gaming Control Board to make sure its business is transparent and that our citizens are clearly aware of how we conduct our important work,” said Board Chairman Mary DiGiacomo Colins.  “We also understand that an increasing number of persons are receiving information via the Internet, and this project clearly provides needed information through that medium.”

In addition to offering informative videos and much more information on its web site, the Gaming Control Board also provides speakers on a number of topics related to legalized slots gaming in the Pennsylvania.  If your organization would like to make a request through the PGCB Speakers Bureau, visit www.pgcb.state.pa.us and choose the “Request a Speaker” option under the About PGCB tab on the home page.
