PA Gaming Board Announces Location of Sept. 29 Philadephia Diversity Forum

Board Completing Details of Oct. 27 Forum in Pittsburgh

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today announced that it will hold the first of two Gaming Diversity Forums designed to promote the inclusion of women- and minority-owned businesses in the Commonwealth’s emerging gaming industry in the Fox Gites Room of the Liacouras Center on the Temple University campus in Philadelphia on Thursday Sept. 29, 2005.

The Board is also moving forward with its second planned Diversity Forum, scheduled for Thursday Oct. 27, 2005, on the campus of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Details of the Pittsburgh forum will also be announced as soon as they are completed.

“These forums will facilitate the participation of women and minorities in the new, multi-billion dollar gaming industry in Pennsylvania, so we’re encouraging people who are interested to mark the calendars now,” said Tad Decker, Chairman of the Board. “We’re bringing in some top-flight speakers to help educate a new class of entrepreneurs about the opportunities that will be open to them.”

Decker said the Philadelphia forum will be a day-long event consisting of three main sessions and networking opportunities for participants. Subjects for the main sessions are an Overview of Gaming in Pennsylvania; Advancing Diversity Among Manufacturers and Suppliers; and Preparing to Do Business.
Further details for both forums will be announced as soon as they are completed, and the Board will publish registrations form and instructions for registration on its Web site, www.pgcb.state.pa.us.

Act 71 of 2004, which authorized expanded gaming in the Commonwealth, requires the Board to promote diversity in all aspects of gaming in Pennsylvania.
