PA Gaming Control Board To Hold April 20 Public Meeting In Pittsburgh

HARRISBURG: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold its Thursday April 20, 2006, public meeting in Pittsburgh Chairman Tad Decker announced today. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh.

The public meeting will be held in conjunction with the Board’s previously announced public-input hearings in Pittsburgh on proposed gaming facilities in the region on Tuesday April 18 and Wednesday April 19, Decker added.

“All of the Board’s decisions are made in public, and we value the public’s attendance at our meetings,” Decker said. “This will the Board’s second public meeting in Pittsburgh and third visit there overall, including our successful diversity forum in October 2005. Because we are already holding public-input hearings on the proposed Pittsburgh-area gaming facilities on April 18 and April 19, we thought it was important to hold a regular meeting in Pittsburgh, too.”

The April 18 and April 19 public-input hearings will also be held at the Omni William Penn Hotel. They will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Board will be taking comments from individuals, community groups, local governments and applicants on four Pittsburgh-area proposals during the hearings.

Those applicants are:

    • IOC Pittsburgh Inc.
    • PITG Gaming.
    • Station Square Gaming.
    • Washington Trotting

Under Act 71 of 2004, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is responsible for licensing 14 gaming facilities across the state. The Board has jurisdiction over every aspect of the authorization and operation of slot machines in the Commonwealth.
